Busier than a Bee

I believe I could give a few bees a run for their honey these days.

It's self-inflicted busy and fun busy, but still. BUSY. Days at the beach, mornings at the park. Trips to see friends. Trips up north. Shopping at the farmer's market. Eating at the fair. T-Ball. Soccer. The zoo.

This is the stuff that summer is made of.

I'm hoping to stop long enough this weekend to share some of the highlights of our adventures, for all three of you still out there.

But in the meantime, I'm forced to neglect the online world for the big, bright, beautiful world outside my window.

As Amanda's mom says, "You can't write about life unless you're living it."

OH! And we still have four weeks until school starts. FOUR WEEKS! I'm a little giddy about the late Labor Day this year. I'm wallowing in summer. It's my favorite season. Hands down. What's your favorite?

  1. My favorite season is fall! I can't wait. Summers in Alabama are HOT and HUMID and I'm over it. I'm ready for some cool fall nights, crisp daytime breezes, football, pumpkins, hay rides, bonfires, and MY birthday! Haha!

  2. Fall! And spring comes in a close second. Right now I am wallowing in humidity, despite the fact that it has been a cooler (cold) summer overall, and counting down the days until September. Apple picking, making soup, baking bread without worrying about turning my kitchen into a furnace, driving into the Adirondacks to look at foliage (while getting annoyed at the other leaf-peepers--my husband's role), not having my clothing stick to me ...

  5. My favorite used to be fall, but in a shocking turn of events, I think I'm starting to favor summer. And of course it feels like it's gonna be over in a New York minute. The last few weeks of summer for us are packed so full, I feel quite certain that we'd spill like luggage all over at even the slightest bump on the path.

The consolation to summer coming to an end is that my runner up favorite is on its way!

  7. Fall, fall, fall. Love me some fall. The reprieve from humidity. The colors. The smells. School supplies. And everything is flavored with pumpkin. I am a firm believer that Labor Day weekends should be spent up near Grand Marais. When I'm able to do that again, my heart will soar!

  8. I used to love all the seasons equally until I was introduced to the concept that not every state had 7 months of winter...now I love summer. Fall is great, too, but summer = outdoorsy smells, outdoorsy times, outdoorsy living. It's good.

  9. If lived somewhere where summer did not mean 100 degree (if your lucky) days, I would love summer! But, here I love fall. The crisp air and beautiful colors...and the promise of Christmas coming soon. :)

  12. I always answer this question by saying that fall is my favorite but in reality, I'm ready for each season by the time they arrive. I'm fortunate enough to live in a climate where I actually experience all four seasons! Summer is great because I can go to work without grabbing a jacket at 0-dark thirty, but I am getting tired of the heat now...

  13. I love spring.

I find the first blossoms of spring, the first blades of bright green grass, the return of fat robins to be so, so cheering. It's like a promise, fulfilled or waking after a dark and lonely night.

  14. I like our one season here in San Diego. I call it: "it's nice out today; let's go for a walk."

I lived in the MIdwest for 25 years, so I know it's nice there too sometimes :)

  15. Fall definitely. Love the food--soup, chili. Love the clothes--jeans, boots.

Summer, my least favorite. Something to do with the heat and the humidity here in the deep south, not to mention the whole swimsuit/shorts deal.
